Widow’s Keep (a collaboration)

“Widow’s Keep”

She stands at the cliff side edge
With the breeze blowing through her hair
Behind her rises the high most tower
Like a sword lifted to the air
And it makes her think of someone
Another distant place in time
Behind a wooded castle’s walls
Inside a room a night sublime

He swore he’d always be there with her
Her companion, her protector, her friend
But not long after the war of the mages
She found herself pale and alone again
Lost on the darkest battlefield
She watched the witch queen deal the blow
That struck down her brave lover
And made the witches her lifelong foe

His last breath came in her trembling arms
The poison blade having done its worst
And though now his suffering is all over
She carries with her all that hurt
For in his last breath he spoke to her
“My secret love, I will wait for thee
On shores of fine Elysium
By your tower by the sea”

While warrior funeral pyres were burning
She wouldn’t let them commit him to flame
“My sweet lover will return to the ocean
From whence my elven kind came”
She watched him drift out on the sea
In a boat which she had made
To sail forever more on and on
Until he returns again on the waves

So now she stands here every twilight
Waiting with her shattered hope and heart
That the Gods will bring back her love
When the seas of eternity part
She will not rest this evening
The watch forsakes her sleep
And she is waiting, forever waiting
On the Cliffs of widow’s keep

Stormy Weather

~ Stormy Weather ~

The rain was icy
The wind was chill
The lady stood there on the hill
Immune to the freezing rain coming down
Wearing nothing but a silken gown
Her eyes fixed to a spot on the horizon
A flash of metal had caught her vision
Could it be, after all of this time
That her prince was coming to set things right?
Long ago he went away
A kiss of promise was all he gave
No words or letters to seal their pact
Nothing but a kiss to promise that he would be back
All these nights she has been alone
Looking out into the unknown
Dreaming dreams of a life that could be
If her prince returned on his gallant steed
The sound of hoof-beats jarred her mind
And took her back to that kiss goodbye
Off to war is where he had gone
No word was said as to his return
Just a kiss was all he left
Just a kiss that lingered on her breath
Sounds of laughter brought her around
To the vision before her on the ground
Her prince was on his bended knee
With the ring of Claddaugh for her to receive
Tears escaped her as she touched his face
The promise in his hand she happily embraced
The sign of forever, the circle of time
The Irish wedding band now joined their lives
Hearts entwined, hands together
Into ever after in the midst of stormy weather.

Twilight (Published work written PRIOR to Stephenie Meyer)

 Twilight

Twilight’s reign grows week,
as moonbeams take the throne.
Those of eternal sleep,
will wake for the Sun is gone.
The wind whispers in the trees,
while the spiders run in the grass.
The one being I seek,
will return at last.
The light from his eye’s will guide my way.
The touch of his kiss will smother my pain.
The embrace of his arms will put me in Heaven,
and the song in his voice will linger forever.
The moonbeams glow in the night,
as the wind sings the trees a lullaby.
My love and I will take flight,
and leave the world a kiss goodbye.

Lady of The Dunes

Twas a chill spring night
The moon was low
I saw her walking along the dunes
Oh, how the waves pounded
The beach that night
the ocean angry at the world of light
She was alone, not frightened of being swept away
Thunder rumbled
Wind howled
She was a shimmer of white
In the tempest night
I wanted to hear her fabled moan
But the force of nature
Was to fierce for my mortal soul
But I’ve heard it said
By moon and star
In rain or fog
She walks along the dunes
They don’t say why
Only that she cries
Heard best on bitter cold nights
I plan to comeback to this forgotten shore
And hear a bit more of her story
I believe tis a love she lost
While walking in the storm.

Moth told me about his dream, I wove it into a poem.

~~ Whispers ~~

A whisper caresses sleeping eyes
A shadow moves away from the bed
Stirring so softly in a bed of white linen
The sleeper raises his head
His drowsy gaze lands on the hooded figure
Standing at his bedchamber door
By instinct he pulls out his dagger intent on slitting the intruder’s throat
The invader steps back, but alas it is to late
He has caught it before it could take flight
With weapon in hand he peers into the depths
of the thin midnight blue frock
He pulls back the hood with the tip of his blade
And stops as he sees a girls face
Before him stands a wide eyed damsel
With an innocent smile on her lips
Green eyes dancing red hair burning
And under her cloak she wears not a stitch
She takes a step forward and gazes into his eyes
And whispers a kiss on his lips
He reaches to take her, but she is much quicker
She is gone leaving nothing but her scent
As he looks around dazed
A voice drifts his way telling him she will return
Some distant night she will take flight
And bring him up to her home
Her tower in dreamland
Her home of enchantment
She promises forever that she will be his
But until that time all he will find
Are whispers on his sleepy lips
