While Scorpio Dreams

~ The tide goes to the shore,
With each breath you take,
Steady, peaceful sleep.
And I wish I could share it with you.
Alas, I am waltzing with my demons this night.
Your face is so peaceful,
Like the serenity of a summer song.
And well, I am
That ocean that toils and churns,
Never sleeping, ever moving.
And I wonder what dreams you are dreaming,
As I sit here in the candlelight
And watch you sleep. ~

When Half of You Is Gone

I knew you reached your destination
When I couldn’t breathe,
My chest tight and fighting me
Sharp, jagged, painful.
You would only be gone five days
Only a few hours away
This was not supposed to affect me so deeply
Bother Me,
Unnerve me,
Stop me from breathing
So I continue to work
Smiling,
Talking,
Laughing,
Then I pause to take a break
Tears start falling
Unwanted, unasked for
I am unable to stop them
Hide them,
Hold them in.
You will only be gone five days
Only a few hours away
This is not supposed to affect me so deeply
But it does
And it has only been four hours.

A Few Simple Words

I write to you
But the words are never right
I start and stop
Scribble, scratch
And throw away page after page
Of frustration
My heart is full of emotions
My mind is a kaleidoscope of pictures
And I, A POET!
Cannot find the words to express them
I will never stop my quest
To capture the perfect words
That express what I feel in my soul
And see when I close my eyes
Until then
I offer you a few simple words
I love you……

Stormy Weather

~ Stormy Weather ~

The rain was icy
The wind was chill
The lady stood there on the hill
Immune to the freezing rain coming down
Wearing nothing but a silken gown
Her eyes fixed to a spot on the horizon
A flash of metal had caught her vision
Could it be, after all of this time
That her prince was coming to set things right?
Long ago he went away
A kiss of promise was all he gave
No words or letters to seal their pact
Nothing but a kiss to promise that he would be back
All these nights she has been alone
Looking out into the unknown
Dreaming dreams of a life that could be
If her prince returned on his gallant steed
The sound of hoof-beats jarred her mind
And took her back to that kiss goodbye
Off to war is where he had gone
No word was said as to his return
Just a kiss was all he left
Just a kiss that lingered on her breath
Sounds of laughter brought her around
To the vision before her on the ground
Her prince was on his bended knee
With the ring of Claddaugh for her to receive
Tears escaped her as she touched his face
The promise in his hand she happily embraced
The sign of forever, the circle of time
The Irish wedding band now joined their lives
Hearts entwined, hands together
Into ever after in the midst of stormy weather.

Neptune’s Daughter Dreams

Sleepy eyes
Find solace
In the world
Ruled by the stars
And father Neptune
Holds back storms
As Morpheus
Brings a much needed dream
Crashing Waves
On a stone tower
Fade into
An oft dreamed
Moonlit meadow
But this time
Sleepy eyes
Do not dream alone
